Mark Knopfler Tickets

Mark Knopfler is a British bred musician, record producer and film score composer. Growing up in England, Mark Knopfler was deeply inspired by his uncle's musical talent. Throughout Mark Knopfler's childhood and adolescence, he joined multiple schoolboy bands and listen to every piece of music he could get a hold of. After trying his hand at journalism, Mark Knopfler eventually fell back to music where his true passions resided.

As a co-founder, lead guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for the band Dire Straits since 1977, Mark Knopfler has had a very successful career. The Dire Straits have sold over 120 million albums since they began. In 1995, Mark Knopfler's band separated giving him the opportunity to go solo. Over the next few years, Knopfler continued songwriting and producing albums, as well as occasionally playing with other artists such as Eric Clapton and Steely Dan.

As a solo artist, Mark Knopfler's first solo album was released in mid-1996 and he would continue to impress his fans for years to come. Mark Knopfler is most well known, besides for his Dire Straits era, for his musical scores such as The Princess Bride and Metroland. Knopfler has established himself as "one of the most respected fingerstyle guitarists of the modern rock era."

Since the split, the Dire Straits have reunited to play various charity concerts and other events, as well as putting out the compilation The Best of Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler: Private Investigation. Mark Knopfler is a well-rounded musician and puts on an outstanding performance time after time. Check out this upcoming Historic State Theatre event to buy your Mark Knopfler tickets today.
