CAKE will be coming to the Historic State Theatre in Minneapolis on May 12! CAKE is an American alternative band out of Sacramento, California. They became very popular in the 1990's with their second album Fashion Nugget which included hit singles like "The Distance" (the highest-charting single for the group).

CAKE group members have changed throughout the years, adding some members and letting others go, but have had the same lineup for years now. The current members of CAKE include John McCrea (lead vocals), Vince DiFiore (trumpet/harmony vocals), Xan McCurdy (lead guitar), Gabe Nelson (bass guitar), and Paulo Baldi (drums/percussion).

CAKE's musical style is described as alternative rock, or indie rock, but it's also noted for combining multiple musical genres within their music. Some of these others mucial genres that they've used are ska, funk, pop, jazz, rap, and country. They are also known for word play and the distinctive sound of vibraslap, which are featured on many of their albums including CAKE's Pressure Chief, Comfort Eagle, and Prolonging the Magic.

CAKE released their sixth album on January 11, 2011 and it was entitiled Showroom of Compassion. CAKE's Showroom of Compassion debuted at the number 1 position on the Billboard 200, which is a first for the band!
