Orpheum Theatre Minneapolis

Orpheum Theatre Minneapolis Tickets are a hot commodity here in the Twin Cities. With its beautiful architecture, great location and outstanding lineup of performers, the Orpheum Theatre Minneapolis Tickets sell out fast.

The Orpheum Theatre originally opened on October 16, 1921 under the name Hennepin Theatre. When the Orpheum Theatre was built, it brought together two separate structures. When you enter the Orpheum, the first structure you encounter is the long and narrow lobby that extends back from its Hennepin Avenue entrance. The beautiful lobby contains six terra cotta bas relief structures that were salvaged during its restoration. As you walk through the magnificent structure, you will eventually find yourself at the entrance of the auditorium, which parallels Hawthorne Avenue. The auditorium itself is elaborately plastered with numerous decorations, and the ceiling of the Orpheum Theatre auditorium is adorned with 30,000 squares of aluminum leaf.

From 1921 to 1934, the Orpheum Theatre Minneapolis was primarily a venue for variety shows. When vaudeville houses began to decline in popularity, the Orpheum Theatre became a movie house showing films such as "Gone with the Wind" and "My Fair Lady." Throughout the years, the Orpheum Theatre has been host to numerous top star performers such as Eddie Cantor and Sophie Tucker. In 1988, the Orpheum Theatre was purchased and renovated by Bob Dylan, who brought in concerts and Broadway plays. A few years later, Hennepin Theatre Trust bought the venue and continues to hold the ownership today.

The Orpheum Theatre seats around 2600 guests, with 1500 on the main floor and 1100 throughout its three balconies. Although the Orpheum Theatre holds more people than the other two restored theatres on this website, the Orpheum is known for its sell out performances. If you are interested in an Orpheum Theatre show, purchase your Orpheum Theatre tickets as soon as possible or you will miss out on a wonderful experience.
